尽管直觉饮食有时可以解释为那些饮食习惯受限的人….that is far from the truth. Intuitive eating is also very much the way to freedom from 暴饮暴食 disorder (or any degree of 暴饮暴食) and establishing peace with food and 您r body.
Often, people tend to start with the the 情感工作 of 暴饮暴食 disorder (BED) and while 那 is important, it’s not the first priority. First 您 have to build a foundation. And 那 foundation comes by working through the first few key principles of 直觉饮食.
This probably 感觉 s terrifying and anxiety provoking if 您’我一直在以一种混乱的方式体验食物。 Maybe 那 makes 您 think 您’re going to 感觉 even more out of control around food.
The reason this first piece is so important is because 您 cannot recover and heal from BED if 您 are physically, mentally or emotionally restricting 您r food. If there is 任何形式 (任何形式）发生限制，身体’s evolutionary survival mechanisms in 您r brain start firing which drives 您 to eat.
When 您r brain receives messages of restriction (physically or 精神上/情感上) 您r body is desensitized to leptin. And leptin is 您r satiety hormone. It tells 您r body, “Hey, we’re full…暂时无需继续进食。” It makes sense 那 restriction in 任何形式 would cause 您r body to stop listening to leptin. Your body things it’s survival is threatened and therefore, 您 are driven to eat. It makes perfect biological sense!
Conscious reasoning (aka the diet mentality) will not override the rational, automatic part of 您r brain. And to fight the rational, automatic part of 您r brain 24/7 when 您 are restricting in any way, shape or form is totally exhausting! You might be able to overdrive this survival mechanism in the short term, but over time…your body’吃东西的原始动力会胜出。
It is only when all the restrictions are lifted and 您 give 您rself full permission to give up dieting, pursue health over weight loss, honor 您r hunger and eat any and all foods 那 您 begin to experience freedom from binging and 感觉 ing crazy around food.
我觉得在那里’要记住的重要事情…you’re not a failure or destined for a life where 您 感觉 out of control around food if 您’做了很多“emotional work” without experiencing any freedom. Maybe working through unfulfilled voids or a set of limiting beliefs is not the sole reason 也许相反’s 您r body’s physiological needs 那 are not being met and 那 is where 您 need to begin.
The physiological piece has to be addressed first. And 您 don’t have to heal everything about 您rself emotionally or fill every emotional void before 您 can begin to experience freedom from the constant noise.
Do I ask myself what I 应该 or 应该n’每天都吃吗？
Am I hyper focused on 您r body?
If 您 said yes to any of 那…then 您 are experiencing some element of restriction on a daily basis. I would 感觉 crazy around food too with all 那 restriction. I remember in college I would drunk eat pizza all. the. time. And then be pissed off the next morning about it. Looking back, of course I ate pizza late night because I had restricted my calories during the day in preparation for all the alcohol calories I planned on consuming. This would also happen when I vowed to eat 清洁 or eat vegan or whenever I subjected myself to any other set of arbitrary food rules.
但它’s the starting point. And the first three principles of 直觉饮食 are imperative in doing 那 first phase of work. Therefore, 直觉饮食 is indeed for those with restrictive eating patterns, but also very much so for those of 您 那 struggle with 暴饮暴食 and 感觉 ing out of control around food.
它’s okay to be where 您’re at. If 您 can recognize 那 judgment, hate, and negative self talk are not sustainable…that’这是一个很好的起点。 If 您 can focus on nourishing and honoring 您r body and see 那 doing 那 is sustainable…that’这是一个很好的起点。
If there is any set of rules 那 govern 您r eating (either consciously or subconsciously) 您 will eventually rebel against them. Just like 您 can’t overcome 您r genetic set point, 您r can’t override 您r primal drive to eat. Intuitive eating is not a hunger-and-fullness diet, or a don’t-emotionally-eat diet. If 您 believe there is a right and wrong way to eat or if 您r self esteem is dependent on 您r food choices…
Because 您r body knows exactly what it needs to maintain a healthy weight. Your body is the master of it’s size, not 您. And 直觉饮食 is the way to finding peace with food, 您r body and 您r mind.
